Result of General Meeting on 30 November 2009

At the General Meeting held on 30 November, two amended versions of the resolutions in the requisition carried:

Resolution 1

That the Librarian and Careers Centre staff be restored to Hamilton Place and a new working library created containing books, journals, regulatory documents, tapes and other media covering primarily modern aerospace disciplines. This updated facility to be allocated space at least as large as previously and preferably more, to provide good working conditions and to allow the progressive installation and development of multi media replay/access and internet facilities

Resolution 2

That following the reinstatement of the Careers Centre and the creation of the new working library at Hamilton Place as the Society’s main library and receipt of advice from the working parties they have set up, Council should consider the need to undertake a full consultation of all grades of the membership with respect to their longer term expectations and requirements of the Library and Careers Centre and to their views on the future development of the Library at 4 Hamilton Place, the archive established at Farnborough and their relationship with the other national aerospace collections.

On a count of a show of hands, the President declared the two resolutions carried. There was no request for a postal vote.  The President informed the meeting that the Council, the final authority in the Society, will deliberate on these resolutions when it next meets (in March 2010).  In due course the Society will produce definitive minutes of the meeting.
